Older version crashes when I try to slice

I've recently installed Version 3.0.2. When installed this version, I didn't uninstall my previous version V2.2.1. I've been having some problems with V3, and to aid in troubleshooting I've tried to slice some files with the older version. V2.2.1 now crashes when I try to slice a file with it. V3 su...

Re: Extrusion Multiplier in multiple processes

This conversation actually started on the MakerGear forum. There is more information about this Simplify3D bug here:

Extrusion Multiplier in multiple processes

I stumbled into something today that I have struggled with for over a year with regard to S3D and trying to run extrusion calibration parts. If I have a simple calibration part, and I set it up to print it runs fine. If I put multiple of the same part in a file, and set up a process for each of the ...

Re: V2.1 Internal support not being created

The 4 sided and 6 sided cube files are just examples of the issue. They are a highly simplified representation of the problem with the slicer. The real models I'm having these problems on are much larger and much more complex. There are many situations where you would want the behaviour I'm describi...

Re: V2.1 Internal support not being created

The parts I'm printing are quite large and are composed of a variety of thick and thin cross sections. I'm printing in ABS, and I want the part to be largely solid (I typically print with 90% infill and extrusion calibrated to be "full"), for a variety of reasons. However, I have found through quite...

V2.1 Internal support not being created

Something has changed about the way support is automatically generated. I have parts with voids modeled into them that in the past support material has been added to automatically. The voids are there primarily to control stresses and warping. Previous versions had no problems with this. The factory...

Re: Wider extrusion width for first layer...

I ran of a series of test parts to illustrate my point. I ran copies of the same stl file with different settings. One had 70% first layer height, 50% first layer height and 30% first layer height. I also ran one with coasting turned on, one with a -0.4 extra restart distance, and one with neither. ...

Re: MakerGear M2 V3B default Extrusion Width set to manual?

I noticed this too. The "auto" width used to be 0.48 and it is now 0.42 for both the V3a and V3b.

Does anyone know why this would have changed?

Re: Wider extrusion width for first layer...

So, I'm on the opposite side of this. I'm running S3D V2.1 and printing on a MakerGear M2. I primarily use the default settings of 70% layer height and 50% speed for the first layer. I set my bed level and zstop such that a 0.15 mm shim fits everywhere and a 0.25 mm shim doesn't fit anywhere. My par...

Various Extrusion Parameters, workflow

Hello, Does anyone know if the "extrusion multiplier" in the FFF file is supposed to have the exact same impact as changing the extrusion override in the machine control panel? I'm trying to sort out the best work flow for running many copies of the same parts through multiple rolls of material. It ...
