Re: Activation key invalid

I contacted Simply3d direct and Clayton has been helpful. He suggested it was an intermittent network issue and that there was nothing wrong with the licence key. Our network also runs our webserver and email system and we have had no problems. I tried a fresh install on a new computer - still no jo...

Re: Activation key invalid

Everything OK - again. But its a bit disconcerting to use important software that suddenly reverts to out-of-date trial mode and then will not accept the valid licence key.

Activation key invalid

Hello, I have emailed Clayton regarding a problem which occurred yesterday. One machine suddenly decided that my copy of Creator was a trial edition which had expired and requested the activation key. I input my activation key which was rejected (error 1024). A few hours later the other machine foll...

Re: Backlash Compensation

Hi, on our M2 which has been set up with pretty tight belts on the X and Y axis and a threaded Z axis the backlash is 0.005 mm on the belts and 0.004 on the thread. I don't think backlash compensation would work too well on a 3D printing system which has many thousands of head direction reversals al...

Re: Backlash Compensation

Backlash compensation on all CNC machines is to allow for the slight (hopefully) difference in head movement when a direction change occurs. On gear drives this is due to the load being transferred to different sides of the threaded components (this is vastly simplified) - on belt drives this is due...

Re: curling edges

Hi crj, what is the material - I am guessing it is ABS. If so what was your Bed temperature? Largish flat items with square corners are probably the most difficult items to print. From my experience, the only methods that are 'almost' guaranteed to work involve : using as low a bed temperature as po...

Re: Retraction Value

Hi, this is a problem with Marlin firmware, apparently. Gcode is correct so about to dig into the firmware :-)

Re: Retraction Value

Hi Jimc, I am printing ABS and the fff settings I use work beautifully so long as I don't select G2/G3 arc commands in Creator. As soon as I select that option and have retract set to anything, the extruder head goes merrily on a beautiful arc, stops, extrudes a blob of plastic, lifts, ploughs its w...

Re: Retraction Value

Hi Jmic and Dale - all makes sense but put it this way - when I enable G2/G3 codes I get an almighty great lump of plastic shooting out of the nozzle and when I put the retract value to zero I don't get an almighty great lump of plastic at each reversal. I like the G2/G3 code - its neater and I'd li...
