Re: Models printing with hollow spaces and gaps

I just remembered another way I've gotten this sort of thing to work: When you model an object as two or more meshes merged together, save them all as separate objects and load them into S3D one at a time. Apparently when it knows the meshes are separate objects it's smarter about figuring out that ...

Re: Models printing with hollow spaces and gaps

I was able to get the sledge hammer to work by orienting it vertically with the hammer end down and slicing with the "Merge all outlines" box checked. Here's a pic just before the handle would start to print. sledge.JPG Not sure if printing that way would be a problem, but offhand it seems...

[ADDED] Change model moving behavior

I'd like to be able to avoid that jumpy thing that happens when I move models around on the bed. (ctrl-left-drag). I get the idea behind it, but often it's just annoying. sometimes the view changes so much that the model i'm moving is no longer visible. even when that doesn't happen i almost always ...

Re: Feature request: Grid spacing

In the discussion on the M2 board another member came up with a neat workaround: Model a small thin cylinder around the z-axis, and anytime you want to know the position of something on the bed, move the cylinder there and double click on it. The dialog will show you the x and y translations, which ...

Re: How to restrict speed by max extrusion speed? (Flex)

I've been able to print flex filament successfully now using the M203 E1 command before doing any extruding, and also putting it in my start script. At the same time, I set the print speed at 900 mm/min. I'm not certain what the effect of mixing the two ways of slowing down the print is- I guess you...

Re: How to restrict speed by max extrusion speed? (Flex)

I'm working with this problem too. I believe the answer is in putting an M203 command in your startup script. For example M203 E5 will set the maximum extruder feed rate to 5 x 60 mm/min, or 300 mm/min. So in your case M203 E1 should do the trick. It seems to work like it says when I jog the extrude...

[ADDED] Grid spacing

This feature request grew out of a discussion on the Makergear user group forum. How about making the space between the grid lines user definable? As it is on the M2 we get a 14x14 grid on an 200x250 mm bed. Not very useful no matter how you slice it (haha). If the grid has to be a fixed amount, the...

Re: How To Use Macro Buttons?

I'm no gcode expert, but don't G0 (or G1) first need to know if you are in relative or absolute mode? At the very least, that should be set first otherwise you don't know what's going to happen. G90 is absolute coordinates (what you are trying to use I think) G91 is relative coords. G28 Z0 will home...

Re: Feature Request: Name of .factory file in title bar

I think there are a lot of people using S3D, but for some reason this forum isn't very active. Might be another reason for the devs to have more presence here. Honestly the support for pure S3D questions on the Makergear group is much better than here. But S3D is very responsive to emails through th...
