Wall Thickness and Infill

Hey All, I'm trying to get my new printer dialed in but I can't seem to find a set of settings that works for everything. I have the steps/mm set correctly but I can't seem to get the wall thickness and extrusion multiplier worked out. I believe conventional knowledge is to leave the wall thickness ...

Re: Reducing gaps between outline shells and top surface fil

I've never had great success with "auto" but it shouldn't matter for a single perimeter. You could try both and see if there is any difference. I typically leave the multiplier at 1 for PLA.

Re: Reducing gaps between outline shells and top surface fil

You could try the thin wall cube here (there are dozens of these on thingiverse...I just grabbed the first): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:507014 Be aware that if the wall is too thin that S3D may completely ignore it if you're extrusion width is too low. You can always tweak the wall thickness t...

Spiral Vase disregards min layer time

I was printed some rockets that terminate in a fine pointed using the spiral vase method and noticed that at the tip the print speed was not slowing down. I had assumed that the "adjust printing speed for layers below" setting would still have been used but apparently not? This left the ti...

Re: Delta build table size wrong (new with 2.2.0?)

I have the same issue. As mentioned above you can correct the display but I don't believe it's possible to then correct for the center position. For instance my delta has a 250mm build plate. To correct this in S3D that means I need to use ~176mm. However if I want the center offset to also appear c...

Re: Multiple Printer Support (Makerbot and RepRap)?

I can see that, but it makes it a pretty annoying task if you have 2 different printers to keep flipping back and forth between firmware types. Not only that but I also have to choose the machine type for the Makerbot or else my HBP doesn't get activated. I can't tell you how many times I've forgott...

Multiple Printer Support (Makerbot and RepRap)?

Hey All, I just finished building a second printer (a 1.5x Kossel) my other printer is a FlashForge Creator (MakerBot Replicator Dual Clone). It seems that S3D can only have 1 firmware type that is set in the Tools>>Firmware Configuration area. Which means I have to flip back and forth between my 2 ...

Re: Changing materials does not change temperature in profil

As you mention it does seem like all the info is there. The first switch of material seems to work. So if the profile populates with ABS selected and I want to print PLA I can choose PLA and all of the settings transfer. But if I choose ABS again then they stay the same as the PLA settings. So as a ...

Changing materials does not change temperature in profile

I'm using 2.2.1 but I've seen this behavior since I started with S3D about a year ago. Essentially If you select a profile, then change the material the temperatures (and many other settings) don't seem to follow across. It would be nice if changing the material also changed settings for that materi...

Extra perimeters (or something)

I'm attempting to print a vase using 2 perimeters and 0 infill. Around the interior sides of the vase I keep getting these weird areas. I'm not really sure how to describe them. They're not full perimeters and they're not infill. Any idea how to get rid of this? I currently have infill set at 0, 2 p...
