Re: Version 5 Announcement

Let me be the first one to voice my skepticism that 5 will be any different than 4.1out of the gate. As usual the announcement is marketing fluff with no substance whatsoever. "Over the years, Simplify3D has built a reputation for accuracy and reliability." Really? I really hope I'm wrong. B...

Re: Anycubic I3 Mega "out of filament" being ignored?

I would think this has to do with how the firmware on the printer is setup. As a general recommendation, always use SD card, since it's a much more reliable data transfer.

For instance, if you used Slic3r or Cura and ran a print via USB, it would probably have the same behavior.

Re: S3D Development Update - Aug 2018

By the way I paid for the software so I can say what I want. They stated there was going to be an update in September. The first layer post was a problem with start gcode within S3D and Marlin. Which I figured out on my own. https://photos.app.goo.gl/26muJoDaJ9Avto1RA You could have a Phd and still...

Re: Blob on corners - Retraction setting?

I would try lowering the temperature 10 degrees, and maybe increasing your retraction distance by 1 mm. If the plastic is too hot, it's going too ooze right out, and not be easily controllable when the printer does a retraction of filament.

Re: S3D Development Update - Aug 2018

You want to make it about the people asking for features like they are low for even asking for a consistent schedule. You must be an iphone user. Let us kiss the feet of the software gods lets they hurl thunderbolts. There are tons of other software that are fully functional, that have paid version...

Re: S3D Development Update - Aug 2018

The general demeanor on this thread is horrid and shows what an embarrassment the 3D printing community can be at times. "Even if you let people walk all over you, they'll still complain you're not flat enough" comes to mind here. Simplify3D gives these updates out for free. I got the software all ...

Re: Printer profile changes

The .FFF files are in XML format, which is just plain human-readable text. Open both files in notepad and use either a program or website to do a text compare and you can see what specifically is changed between the two files.

Re: Pausing a print to change Filament

You can do this, you just need to know what layer you want to pause at. Using the G-Code previewer set to preview by layer, it gives a good visual representation of the layers and helps figure out what layer you'd like to pause at. After this save Toolpaths to disk, open the Gcode file with a text-ed...

Re: multiple installation

The challenge, at least for me, is that there does not appear to be a mechanism for sharing printer profiles between the 2 machines. My printers are network connected and I use both a laptop & a desktop to produce STL files. I've resigned myself to only using Simplify 3d on the desktop as it's just...

For those looking for the SPEED tab, those entries are in the OTHER writeup above. Guess S3D was changed a bit since this helpful post was created. Thanks again to the author !
