Re: API for add-ins

I could see why it might not have been something they wanted to do back then, but the industry is changing so rapidly. There are no less than 3 printers coming out this year that do some form of color mixing, which I believe is going to be huge for 3D printing. If S3D doesn't jump on that quickly, o...

Re: Where is version 4.1?

That would work.
- Remember COM port and Baud Rate
is one that drives me nuts having to reconnect and change both of these every time.

Re: Where is version 4.1?

Looking forward to an update. Hoping for, - API plugin system - Support for more than 6 tools or support for mixing extruders - Saving of COM port and Baud Rate per machine - Autosave profile settings after clicking OK I'm sure there's a lot more that is in the update, these just happen to be my pri...

Re: API for add-ins

Originally request was in 2016. This really needs to happen. With an API in place plugins could be made to support CNC milling, laser cutting/etching, multiple extruders (beyond 2 inputs with 2 nozzles) like mixing nozzles. There are a few mixing heads out there now that are just waiting for softwar...

Re: Will Simplify3D run a RAMPS 1.4 based CNC?

I did manage to get S3D working to drive a Laser Etcher. I was taking images and running them through a program that would create a 3D model of it. Darker points were higher in the model. Then I took the model in S3D and flipped it upside down and ran with 100% infill settings. So with each layer pa...

Re: Will Simplify3D run a RAMPS 1.4 based CNC?

After looking at some of the requirements of CNC machining I'm recognizing that Simplify3D wouldn't be able to deal with the complexities without a very different slicer. It's the slicer that would be the key because it would have to take into account the material, the bit size, and the aspect of in...

Will Simplify3D run a RAMPS 1.4 based CNC?

I've been told there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. So here goes. Is it possible to use Simplify3D as a platform to operate a DIY CNC machine? I'm building one with parts from OpenBuilds.com and running it with the RAMPS 1.4 board. I've been able to adapt Simplify3D to run a laser cutter/...

Re: Laser cutter on QU-BD Two-Up printer.

..and I was using the layers to make certain areas darker. I used a program called Photo2Mesh to make the 3D model. Darker areas get more height in the model. Save as STL, load it up, flip it over and let it run 5-8 layers with the laser. Lighter areas get etched in the last few layers and the darke...
