3.0 randomly crashes on Mac when previewing a model

I like the improvements in 3.0 but I am switching back to 2.2.2 as my machine randomly hangs when previewing the gcode and I had to hard reboot the machine.

[DONE] Print path to optimize cooling

Say I have two disconnected paths A and B. It seems like the paths are done to optimize the print time so that you see the printer doing ABBAABBAAB and so on. Instead, I would like it to do ABABABAB. The reason is, say B is very small, I want it to have enough cooling time before the next layer is p...

Re: Vase mode with forward movement only

I first did the end caps and that didn't work. Then I made the whole thing solid and it worked. I really don't know what is the purpose of the vase mode if the object has to be solid but no complaints since it works :). Thanks jimc for the solution.

Re: gcode generation randomized?

Same for me. No random settings and still get slight changes. This makes it hard to do any kind of analysis on what's going wrong with my tweaks to the settings.

gcode generation randomized?

I was trying to compare the changes to gcode with different settings and noticed a lot of changes. Then I saved the file twice for the same settings and was expecting only the timestamp line to change. However, I noticed a lot of changes. So, is the gcode generation slightly randomized?

Re: Vase mode with forward movement only

Hmm, I was hoping to print this bracelet (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:416336) in vase mode. This seems like a candidate for vase mode right?

Movement speed adjusts with print speed?

I am getting pretty good prints but when the part has very small islands, then printing across those islands result in very slight stinging. I have tuned temperature and print speed but I still see it (almost negligible) unless I reduce the print speed drastically. Reducing print speed so much impac...

Vase mode with forward movement only

Today I tried the vase mode and found that the printing happens clockwise, then raises z-axis, prints counter-clockwise and the process repeats. This resulted in a clearly visible line at the place where the direction reverses. I am wondering if the print would have been even better if it just keeps...

Printing without bottom/top layer

This bracelet (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:290804) description says "Output is a solid model intended to be printed with no infill and no top or bottom layers." Any idea how this can be done with Simplify3D or any other software?

Re: 2.2.1 Bug? Extra thin layer

See attached. I tried to take the screenshot from the bottom to top view to show that the extra layer is some where in the middle.
