Re: Lulzbot Taz 6 Issues

We have seen the same intermittent behavior from some of our TAZ printers, and it seemed to occur regardless of which slicer we used to create the gcode files. It looked to us like some plastic would occasionally build up on the nozzle tip causing the conductive leveling sensors to get bad readings...

Re: Ironing

+1 still.

I won't leave Cura without it.

Re: Monotonic Top/Bottom infill

+1

These are the types of features that pushed me to Cura. I can't justify spending money to upgrade without at least breaking even with Cura...

Re: [Off-topic] Robot vacuum cleaners?

I would advise against an iRobot. I had a Scooba, and they had it designed to burn up the circuit board if you left it plugged in to charge.

They have probably fixed that, but it was a known problem that they did not make right. That history indicates any new bugs will be left unsupported.

Re: dealing with DRM woes

I liked s3d before it was stagnant. I tried Cura for its ironing, and kept using it because it's now much more capable. Sure, the s3d interface is nicer, and it's got one or two extra features that I rarely use, but overall Cura is my slicer of choice.

Re: Licence help - Can I run two PCs

Are you sure you want to buy a program that hasn't been updated for 3 years? As far as I know, the License prohibits doing this. Why not, still the best software out there for multiple printer support. I tried the free ones, they all suck to some degree. "To some degree..." is the big cav...

Re: Is Simplify3D worth the cost?

A year and a half ago, I would be voting for YES, buy S3d. However, Cura has caught up to the point that there is probably only one feature in S3d that is not in Cura. (Can't even recall it right now...it's been too long since I've used S3d.) Sure, I like the tabbed interface of S3d, but that is tin...

There have been no announcements or developments lately to contradict that presumption.
