You should look at the starting gcode. If there isn't a command there to heat the build plate, then it won't heat up. It should say something like M190 S[bed0_temperature]

Pretty sure you're right. I don't think that Simplify takes into account the filament diameter for anything to do with printing, probably just calculating the length of filament used compared to the weight. Ok, Now that I've actually tried it I ran into a few problems. The first is that the first tool always has trouble laying down it's first purge because it doesn't adhere well. Try going to Tools -> Firmware Configuration -> Select the Makerbot/Sailfish Fimrware profile -> X3G tab. Then select the Replicator 1-dual extruder machine profile. If you select the wrong one, it may mess up your scale.

I've seen this problem before and it's usually because the fans blowing on the drive gear (the motor) have gotten turned off somehow. When that happens, the filament in the drive gear heats up and softens, which leads to it bending around the drive block (the wheel). Check to see if your fans are on...
