Re: End of print retraction

Thanks for the feedback. I'll play around with the retraction settings and see how it turns out

End of print retraction

I've noticed recently that when a print finishes there is a string of filament several cms in length from the final point on the object, gradually thinning as the head returns to home. I checked the end of a job and as far as I can tell it does a 2mm retract (my normal setting for E3D V6) as part of...

Re: E3D V6 inconsistent layers

Thanks wirlybird, lots of help there I've had the printer for over 2 years but only changed the hotends recently. I started off printing things I'd done before but I get your point about .2 for now. I have to admit that after upgrading it seemed to print better than now, but then I saw lots and lots...

E3D V6 inconsistent layers

I have installed E3D V6 hotends on my Vertex K8400 and I am trying to tune the settings. I now have most things OK, but I see severe inconsistency in the outer shell and the top layer is not covering the infill completely. I attach a picture of an example - it's a 40x40 cube with Z reduced to 10mm f...

Re: Bug with deselecting models

I'd always assumed the select/deselect functionality was intended to allow changes (size/scaling) to individual objects, duplicate or 'drop' selected objects or create separate processes for selected objects. Normally I only have the objects loaded that I want to print so I never saw the requirement...

Default extruder in Extruder Lists

I have a dual extruder Vertex K8400. If I am only using one extruder (Right) I still use the dual profile but select 'Right Extruder Only' under 'Auto-Configure Extruders'. However the extruder lists under the Extruder & Temperature tabs always select the Left extruder as default when I open Pro...

Re: Tuning new E3D hotend(s)

Thanks Brian, that was my thinking too I've been experimenting today and finally (almost) understand the relationship and impact of the various extrusionmultiplier/width and first layer settings. I also found that if I load the gcode into Octoprint & select the GCode Viewer it's easier to check ...

Re: Tuning new E3D hotend(s)

sorry, had a submit problem.

I have looked at the Troubleshooting guide (several times) and I will study it again, but a general tip/direction would be welcome

John
