Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

OK good to know. So I switched it back to the RepRap and it still works fine. Now I think I am under-extruding a tad bit. My next obstacle is to figure out how to calibrate the X and Y axis so my parts dimensions are more accurate. I am not sure how to do that in the RepRap. With the makerbot firmwa...

Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

OK I figured out the problem. When I set up the software with the setup wizard and I selected the Makerbot Z18 it defaulted to the RepRap firmware and not the makerbot firmware. I changed that setting and I was able to run a full print. Now, I had a ton of stringing, so once I get that under control...

Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

Thanks I am trying it right now, reducing the plastic coming from the extruder. I already had it down to .95 and it was still knocking it over. But I also know something else is going on because it just looks really ugly. And it fits with too much extrusion.

Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

Yeah I have a nice large brim. I literally could not find the vertical lift option. I looked all over. I did notice that the z axis movement speed was set to 20mm/s and on the makerbot software that is set at 3mm/s. So that's a pretty large difference.

Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

I am still having an issue with the z-axis on the z18. Same as before, the tall prints get knocked over because the nozzle eventually hits the model. It doesn't happen early on in the print. When I print with the makerbot software it doesn't do this. Any ideas what to look for as a difference in how...

Re: Makerbot Z18 issue

I appreciate the response. I will try the vertical z lift option.

Makerbot Z18 issue

Hello everyone, I just got a new makerbot Z18 (because we had to have the build volume) and I am having some trouble. I am not new to simplify3d as this is my 3rd printer but I am having trouble getting it to print correctly. Here is my problem.... It appears there is something wrong with the z-axis...

Re: Replicator 2 problem with height

Thanks for the advice. I think I figured it out, I was printing too hot and that was causing it to over extrude. Eventually it led to the nozzle dragging in the print. I lowered the temp 20 degrees and the problem was solved.

Replicator 2 problem with height

Hello everyone, I have a replicator 2 and I have run into a problem where my nozzle keeps getting clogged. I have also had problems with the nozzle sometimes dragging small strings off the print. I am sitting here watching a 6 hour print finish and I am seeing the build tray moving witch is telling ...

Re: Need Help with Calibration On Replicator 2

Thanks for both of the replies. I was not aware that I could just edit the steps per mm in the firmware settings. I did that and after printing 3 calibration cubes I was able to get it within .001" on a one inch cube. So I am happy with that. I am making prototype parts and dimensions are very ...
