Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

Wow, hadn't been by for a while. This issue is still not improved. Ouch. I mostly design or modify the parts I print so it hasn't been a big issue for me. seems simple enough - algorithm is a user set var of yes or no , if No and if stl extrusion width < Minimum width per nozzle size then no extrusi...

Re: Prusa i3 Rework - choice of pre-configured printer?

For my I3v variant (MakerFarm I3V - Clough42 dual extruder/RRD hexagons, 200x200x200, heated bed) I just went in to the machine settings and made my own profile. the issue with RepRap equipment is there are just so many variations in size, thread pitch, extrusion, etc, It's not like a wanhao duplica...

Re: Where is it ?

Slic3r, Cura Engine and kissSlicer all have fairly regular instances where they do not perform as first expected. I'm sure Matterhackers , skeinforge and R/H do as well although I haven't use them. I've used S3D for a week now, and most instances of something not working I have been able to figure o...

Re: How To Cut Apart Large Objects

I agree with JoeJ, if it was a part I was designing I would design it in the needed part sizes in the native design program and then make .stls from there. If you're starting with an .stl or obj - Netfabb Basic is free and is the easiest way I've found to chop up an .stl. There are some nice youtube...

Re: One process with raft, one without, wrong first layer he

I saw the same difference in graphical representation of layer 6/layer 1 but it is not the case in printing. the first plastic to hit the bed (skirt on the raft) shows effects of layer 1 changes, but layer 6 is a .20mm layer. You did nail it though, I have always made my first layer .35mm with slic3...

Re: One process with raft, one without, wrong first layer he

That would be another viable solution if it was the first layer in question. However, I don't think S3D considers it to be the first layer. It prints the raft for the vertical part completely first- layers one through five, then moves and lowers Z and says it's on layer 6 for the first layer of the ...

Re: Prints curling/warping - suggestions needed

On something that large there is a lot of contraction going on inside. Increase adhesion as previously mentioned with a brim but also cut infill to the absolute minimum. run the cooling fan if the printer has one.

Re: One process with raft, one without, wrong first layer he

Gcode Z offset can be either positive or negative. Not trying to troll at all, just want to be clear for posterity. The raft/part separation was ok but I need to play with it. looks like S3d doesn't default to laying a solid layer down for the first part layer above the raft. Need to look into that ...

Re: One process with raft, one without, wrong first layer he

So gcode Z-offset is per factory file rather than per process. Is there any good documentation about what settings in the process edit dialog affect the entire print? Shouldn't they be in a different dialog rather than the "process edit" dialog if they're global rather than per process? Perhaps some...
