Re: Reliable S3D Crash Processing Array Part

Yep, the nvidia drivers are up-to-date, and there are no errors. I ran it through every checker I could find as well as my own. I've never seen an error in a part coming out of Solidworks. However, your comment about the mesh being "ultra dense" got me thinking. I've never seen this type o...

Reliable S3D Crash Processing Array Part

I've noticed on occasion the slicer has problems with repetitive feature arrays. This one is repeatable and crashes S3D hard with some unusual system errors. Files used are here. It's a big archive because it's a big part. STL and factory file included. http://scifiwheels.com/images/M2Issues/Array.z...

I feared that would be the case. Alas, I cannot. The geometry is proprietary data. Old, old, old proprietary data, but proprietary nevertheless.

Consistent Print Failure in Large Part Support Structure

This one has got me stumped. I’ve been running my Makergear M2 pretty much nonstop since day 1, and this one I just can’t fix. I’m trying to print the part shown in S3D 3.0.1, pictured on my standard 8-layer solid adhesion platform. Only the front end at the top of the image and the sides reach down...

Re: Very High Quality Build Raft For ABS Adhesion

Thanks for the feedback. All of my USB cables are premium, gold contacts, with noise reducers -- some with active noise reduction! I keep all connector types on hand for data collection and sensor integration, too... so no cheapies here. I made that change in the S3D tools panel. I'm getting timeout...

Re: Gaps in print

The issue with the arch definitely looks like a "too few top layers" problem, but the problem with the Buddha (?) looks like it might be a problem with the geometry or an extrusion glitch. Was it printing sitting up or lying on its back?

Very High Quality Build Raft For ABS Adhesion

I kept running into the USB timeout issue on my PC when printing a large, complex piece on a raft. Moreover, I couldn't get my USB firmware settings to stay sticky because the hub driver is glitchy. I'm using a single extruder Makergear M2. And then even when I remembered to change the hub's driver'...

Re: Repeatable Failure To Print -- Early in Raft

This all makes sense. I really needed a solidly adhesing raft today to anchor a very complex support structure for a skeletal, spindly part, so after reading this last post and the links I disabled the super slow raft base layer and turned the other raft layers up to 100%. It appears that my PC's US...

Re: Repeatable Failure To Print -- Early in Raft

"A variety of STLs". Ugh. I was hoping it was a problem attributable to the regular array of island-like features in the first problem file, but now I've got the same issue with another one, and it's all sweeping curves in one big feature. I'll try with the raft off. See how that goes. Yea...

[SOLVED] Repeatable Failure To Print -- Early in Raft

The first time this happened I thought it was a printer hardware failure. While printing the support raft the printer just stopped in the middle of a line. It did this twice, continued, slanted a couple lines into one another, then finally ran over the edge of the print and drove into a limit. I reb...
