When I slice the object using MakerBot (v 3.10) I get a very smooth surface along the surface (see image). Ok, spoke too soon. The thin walls are printing with more detail BUT they're not attached (http://screencast.com/t/5ZSKu58iOVS)

Whoa! It works!
I was trying to print this piece with S3D and it was not doing it. I changed the settings as described and it looks like the print is coming out perfectly. Thanks Merle!
