Re: Linux installation issue with Gentoo kernel 4.10.x

Do an ldd /opt/Simplify3D-4.0.0/libQt5OpenGL.so.5 See if it misses something. In my case it says: linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffe349ba000) libQt5Widgets.so.5 => /opt/Simplify3D-4.0.0/libQt5Widgets.so.5 (0x00007f5fa561b000) libQt5Gui.so.5 => /opt/Simplify3D-4.0.0/libQt5Gui.so.5 (0x00007f5fa5044000) libQt...

Re: Graphics bug with HI-Res/4K monitor

I have the same bug too. It is a regression in 4.0 because it was always fine before that. Problem The print preview takes only 1/4 of the windows space reserved for it. The main view (were parts arrangement happens) looks fine, only the print preview is affected. Print preview can still be rotated ...

[FIXED] Stopped working after openssl update.

Simplify3D refused to start on Linux after the openssl update. Barafu Simplify3D > ./LaunchScript.sh ./Simplify3D: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found (required by ./Simplify3D) As a workaround, I downloaded the previous version of openssl and unpacked it into the /opt/Sim...

Default startup code for Printrbot needs upgrading

Default startup Gcode for Printrbot Simple Metal runs as this: G28 X0 Y0; G29; However, it must be as this: G28 X0 Y0; G28 Z0; G29; This is because G29 calibration routine does not work if the nozzle is higher than 1 inch, and fails silently and sets current height as Z0. Then, second print will sta...

Re: Linux: a severe permission problem with installer.

This script exists, but it is better to prevent errors then supply a patch for the fix. Again, this problem comes silently, there is either no message or one saying "Can't open the file" without even telling which file it is. We are speaking of a beginner user, not Linux guru like us - the...

Linux: a severe permission problem with installer.

First of all, I did not test if this bug exists in 3.0 because it needs a fresh install. Sorry if it is already solved, but I think it is not. Problem After installation, the installer suggests to immediately run Simplify3D. However, if the installer was run with sudo (and it usually is) then the Si...

Linux version: the .desktop file lack a definition.

In Linux, the program installer creates a shortcut on the desktop, using a .desktop file. However, there are few problems with it. 1) If installing with root permission, this file is owned by root. This makes the file read-only for user. User is stuck with read-only file on his personal desktop. 2) ...

How Brim and Ooze shield work together.

New slicer allows us to turn on both Brim and Ooze Shield. Both of them are excellent features when printing ABS without heated bed and when printing exotic materials that warp. There can be several ways how to treat such settings, unfortunately, and the current decision is most useless among them. ...
