Annoying Error Messages

Hi, Recently I have been getting error messages when trying to start S3D and I have to revert to reloading the program. Has anyone any idea as to what the problem may be? I am using Windows 10 on a laptop. Never had this problem before, only since the latest Windows update. Error 1.jpg Error 2.jpg

Re: Confused & bewildered

Thanks dorsai3d, I'll play around a bit more with solids though I had done quite a bit before stumbling on the surface trick. However, I am not so sure it is 'dumb' tricks with surfaces because, if it achieves what we want from our prints then surely it is worth doing. Having said that, I will certa...

Re: Confused & bewildered

I must thank everyone for their input and suggestions but I think I am being treated as a newbie who doesn't know what he is doing. Far from it. I have tried all the methods that have been suggested but I feel the major point of weight reduction is being overlooked. As mentioned earlier, solid model...

Re: Confused & bewildered

Hi dorsai3d, I am surprised that you think this is 'an ugly hack'. As I understand it, the slicer accepts stl files and these can represent surface models. After all, stl files only represent the surfaces of any solid model. What is the problem with trying to push the limits of what we can achieve? ...

Re: Confused & bewildered

This is just a simplified version as a test piece. On the actual part the central piece is attached to the outer but in order to print it as a single layer, the offset is set to the thickness of the extrusion. If you have the opportunity to study the Spitfire files, you will notice that all the inte...

Re: Confused & bewildered

Hi mroek, I have made many, many models using surfaces only, all without problems until this one. Surfaces are great if you only want a single outline, the problem with a solid is that S3D will insist on doing two passes around even the thinnest of walls and it is weight that is so important in what...

Re: Confused & bewildered

There is only one process used. The three were there to try and get round the problem with different processes at the level where the outer cylinder finished. The latest uses only one process and the factory file is attached as well as the STL file so others can play. Thanks.

Confused & bewildered

Hi, I have been trying to create an object that consists of two cylinders, created from surfaces, one inside the other with the internal one being taller than the outside one. S3D imports the model just fine but when the print is previewed, the inner cylinder is stepped at the level of the outer cyl...

Re: Printer keeps stopping mid-print

Hi Joe, Thanks for the reply. I think the problem is now sorted but it was not necessarily the 'PREVENT_LENGTHY_EXTRUDE' issue. I still need to do another test to find out because I commented out the line you suggested so to make doubly sure, I need to reverse that and try again. Previous to the err...
