Software not liking sharp corners

Recently S3D has started printing sharp corners oddly... the first perimeter if fine, but subsequent ones are rounded leaving spaces. Each subsequent perimeter is more rounded than the previous. The software and my printer can obviously handle a sharp corner since the outer most perimeter is fine. I...

cold extrusion prevented (but it's not getting cold...)

Hi folks; Odd error cropped up tonight. I noticed in the communications window that "cold extrusion prevented" was being reported many, many times (I'm 16hrs into a print). The odd thing is the print hasn't failed, the printed does seem to pause for a second at intervals (I'm using USB) bu...

Re: Hollow object printed as a solid

Actually, that's exactly what I did.

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong with the model.

Thank you!!!

Hollow object printed as a solid

Hi folks; I've discovered a weird issue when printed hollow pieces. I was printing a new extruder fan duct and it seems to import fine but when I tell S3D to prep for a print, the stl is capped and shown as a solid object. It also subsequently printed as a solid object. This happened when the stl wa...

Re: Version 4.0 solves one problem, reveals another...

So, after your first response I decided to investigate the jerk / acceleration settings. As a test I set the acceleration of both the X & Y to 100 and printed 2 test pieces with 1mm walls. x axis.jpg This is the X axis, the banding is entirely gone... Y axis.jpg This is the Y axis, there are sti...

Re: Version 4.0 solves one problem, reveals another...

yes, I didn't change the speed. I was working to fix the first problem with the infill overlapping the walls, and didn't want to complicate the issue by changing multiple settings at once so it's not surprising that there is ringing in both models; as the first problem I was having was hiding the 2n...

Re: cant print model flat on the bed

In the preview, flip the model over and see if the problem is still there, if it is I'd look at the original model and see if there's something that S3D is seeing and interpreting wrong. If I was building that model, I would create the flat face first and then Boolean the sides onto it. that way the...

Re: Zits? (yes I read the guide :-)

I would try setting the printer so that this deformation is in a straight line running up a print. This will let you look at many instances at once. From what I've seen if it's an issue with the beginning of a layer, it will appear to come out of the inside of the print and there will be a very smal...

Version 4.0 solves one problem, reveals another...

I had been having an issue with thin walled prints, where the infill overlap was printing outside of the wall... resulting in a rough "cottage cheese" appearance... before.jpg Version 4 resolved this, with changes to the way it handles thin walls (kudos to the devs!!!). The fix also reveal...
