Re: Mac, running Simlify3D bogs down machine

I experience this too. It happens after S3D has been open for some time, generally > 6-8 hours. At first glance it seems like it can't be S3D because the CPU use and memory use are not high, but the mouse becomes very laggy -- sometimes up to several seconds to get it to move. I know it is S3D becau...

Re: Tip of the Day 17 -New Feature- Horizontal Size Compensa

I think this feature is to fix the hole to small issue, but it also affect the outer dimension. Is there a way we can fix the hole to small issue as well as keeping the outer dimension without any modify to the model? Well, you could use a horizontal size compensation to shrink the dimensions sligh...

Dynamic layer thickness

I believe print quality can be tremendously improved (it is already quite nice) with a dynamic layer thickness algorithm. If implemented correctly, it would make the tops and bottoms of curves look much closer to the quality we see on the sides of objects, without having to draw an entire object wit...

Applying processes to specific volumes

We can easily apply different process settings to two different objects to slice them differently. Is there a way to apply process settings to a specific volume region? For example, if you have a whistle (e.g.: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1046), you may want to make sure the walls are airtight ...

Calibration wizards

One feature I would find very useful is a wizard for running standard calibration prints. For example, when I need to know how many perimeter layers I need in order to eliminate rippling from infill, I find this is a function of filament, filament temperature, layer thickness, infill shape, infill %...

Re: Top layer width/height

I still believe it would be useful to have a top layer specific setting such as Slic3r has. One trick I can to play with slic3r is to significantly overextrude the top layer (like 125%). If you have your infill settings right, and enough but not too many support layers underneath, it is possible to ...

I have this too. This, is the primary use for the recent files -- to switch back and forth between the last couple I saved...
