Re: Small-scale printing recomendations

I prefer ABS for acetone wash - gives a nice, smooth result. That said, I did have good luck with my first mini printed in PLA, so I might give that a shot. One good advantage to PLA - since it doesn't react with acetone at all, it'd be a simple matter to use ABS supports and a PLA print. I haven't ...

Re: Small-scale printing recomendations

Thank you for the guidance, trying 1200 now.

I think what I'm trying to figure out all the different settings that would affect smaller-scale printing. With the 0.4mm nozzle I have largely used the defaults for everything and been thrilled with the results. It's all a learning curve.

Re: Small-scale printing recomendations

Here's my speed tab. I assume I just want to cut the default printing speed in half?

Re: Small-scale printing recomendations

I'm attaching pictures of the Extruder, Layer, and Additions pages, these are the only settings I actually changed. I've also discovered since this post that I have some bed-leveling issues to address.

Small-scale printing recomendations

I recently added a 0.2mm nozzle to my printer and was able to get it printing with relative ease. Simplify3D was very effective at at least guiding me to the settings to make it go without screwing up. Only problem now is the quality really doesn't look much better on small objects than what I was g...

Re: Supports keep falling over

Does the skirt add any thickness to the base the same way a raft does? I've been experimenting with rafts and they help, but leave some base thickness that can cause a problem with more detailed models.

Thank you for the suggestions so far! I'll try it.

Supports keep falling over

I'm having some trouble with support structures falling over mid-print. This obviously causes a problem when the time comes to print the section that was supposed to be supported. Any tips on settings I can adjust to keep the supports stable?

Shopping for a new printer

Hi folks, Long story short, I've decided to ditch my Da Vinci 2.0 Duo because it breaks down constantly and the cartridges are defective more than half the time. I am looking to spend about $500-$750, but am willing to go as high as $1,000 if it has a good feature set. Reliability is my primary conc...
