I have used Microsoft 3D STL repair service to clean the STL and then had a close look at my settings. I was using multiple processes so it is easy to get a setting wrong. I seems S3D sometimes thinks it has to print a Top or Bottom layer into a void. Off course this is incorrect - but by tweaking m...

This is a persistent problem with a particular model i have.
I have changed layer height value - no effect.
I have re exported STL with different cord setting - no effect.
Cannot say it is an endearing feature - but definitely is a bug.

I have print that puts some quite small area supports as islands well away from everything else. This is correct for the support but since they will not be used for some height they are very fragile. Is there any way to make supports link together to increase stability
