I've downloaded several models from Thingiverse that were kinda like you described. All of the basic building blocks of the model were there and when Simplify3D sliced it for printing, you could see the parts of the shapes that were supposed to be "inside" the model. The models did not pri...
I have that same printer and glass. I'm having good results with ABS juice. Ive read from others that the superhold unscented aquanet hairspray works great.
That extra fan on the left helps when printing PLA, but its generally not used when printing ABS. Its the same reason you'd print with the door open and the top removed for PLA but the door closed and the top on for ABS.
Try printing the same items with different settings and then compare the process and output models. You'll learn things like what the difference between 0.1mm and 0.3mm layer does to your print time and what the final model looks like. Try some models that are designed to take stress. Print them wit...
You can take care of your network delivery of prints with a FlashAir SD card. I wrote a post about getting simplify3D to automatically push print files to the card. https://forum.simplify3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3698 Its a bit of work to setup and around $23 for the gen3 flashair sd card. But ...
You'll actually get better performance if you tell Simplify3D to create the gcode+x3g on your harddrive or tmpfs/ramdisk and then use the scripts->postprocessing to copy the x3g to the SD card and clean up the tmp files. One thing I found is that at the time your postprocessing script is called, the...
+1 for octopi. I have that and a d-link webcam and works great. Simplify3D does all the slicing. Octopi preheats the printer, sends in the gcode to print and creates a nifty timelapse video of it to boot.
Simplify3D is written in Qt. The profiles are stored in QSettings (http://doc.qt.io/qt-4.8/qsettings.html). On my Linux machine, they're in the QSettings default location in $HOME/.config/Simplify3D/S3D-Software.conf. You can gather the orginization and application names from that path. And from tha...
I have the 64-bit version of S3D installed and it works fine. There are no 32-bit libraries anywhere. Everything is 64bits except the dynamically linked gpx program. j@laptop:/opt/Simplify3D-3.0.2$ file * | grep ELF gpx: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (...
