Re: Variable height layers

I like this idea, but see one potential issue. I have found that for a given nozzle, there are certain layer thicknesses that print better than others. For example, I have a .25mm nozzle that prints really nicely at .08mm layer height, but not as nice a finish at .09 and even less well at .07mm.

Re: Lulzbot Mini - Cura vs Simplify3D

Also, I would check the option Allow gap fill when necessary on the Advanced tab. I have the Kittaz upgraded to a Taz 5. I ran with Cura and Kiss for a long time. I picked up S3D a few weeks ago. After getting things dialed in, I find many of the advanced features (multiple processes per part, editi...

Re: Last Layer Settings

First layer settings is usually about getting proper adhesion which is important for all prints. A last layer option to improve the top layer surface appearance would really only make sense for flat top objects. In this case, you can change settings using multiple processes. I do this for some wheel...

Re: Z hop for top layers only

A partial fix would be to setup two processes. One for the lower parts of your print with z hop off, and the second for the upper part with z hop on. It would work well for parts where the top is all within a small number of layers like a table, but not for something like a staircase where there are...

Different hotends on a dual setup?

I have a Taz 5 with a single Hexagon 3mm hotend. I picked up a Hexagon 1.75 hotend with the intent of doing a conversion. But am now wondering if I could use both in a dual extruder setup with the S3D software, or if they have to be the same?

Re: Infill editor

The first part where I would use this option is a single object.

Infill editor

It would be nice to have different parts of a model printed with different infill percentages. Fore example, I have a print that has an outer rim and an inner hub. It would be nice to have the outer rim printed in say a 60% infill while the inner hub is printed in 30%. I would imagine it being simil...

Re: Brim should stay at object

I agree. The brim should always stay with the object. Perhaps supports and skirts could get their own brim too.

Re: 50 micron Printing Problems

The printer is a Lulzbot TAZ. It's the Kittaz (unfortunately they have discontinued) that I have upgraded to the specs of their current mainline version, the TAZ 5. I also changed the stock nozzle to a .25 nozzle, and built an enclosure for it. The plastic used for those parts are ABS (natural) from...
