Add ⌘/Ctrl+5 View Below to easily customize support

To generate custom support for a difficult model it would be great to have a fast way to look underneath the model. Support columns are often impossible to place in a sophisticated model because other structures are in front blocking access. Currently, the only way to do this for example for a prote...

Re: best support material (PVA, HIPS, simply PLA, PETG)?

Hi Cutterpillar, I have not used Prime Pillar but I believes it's mostly use for printers that extrude multiple filaments through the same nozzle (see this tutorial ). We attachment problems for HIPS on our Flashforge glass bed for both nozzles. It's slightly better on the Ultimaker. For some reason...

best support material (PVA, HIPS, simply PLA, PETG)?

We've been struggling to get support material to work for many days now. So, I thought I'd query the collective experience of Simplify3D to find new things to try. We print our models mostly in PLA because it doesn't shrink like ABS and we don't need the temperature resistance. PVA looks promising b...

Re: BUG: 100% infill not consistent

My lack of knowledge. Thanks, Carl. Ok, so I will set the infill length to zero, since if I don't these small tubes break easily.

100% infill not consistent

If you set infill to 100%, you'd expect all structures to be completely compact but that is not the case. :(
Inspecting the print preview below, you can see that most tubes of this protein structure are fill while the middle one isn't.

This is clearly wrong and needs to be remedied.

Re: Dissolvable interface between the print and supports

If you just need support that's easy to remove, and don't need soluble support then another combination I like is printing PETG on PLA support. Very interesting! So, in your experience at the same settings like distance, support infill,.. PETG and PLA bond less than say PLA on PLA presumably becaus...

How to specify a 2nd material/nozzle for support

I just I thought I'd share how to set up a 2nd material for support since it took me quite a while to figure out. I have model to be printed and want to generate all support using the 2nd nozzle and possible a different material. You cannot go via the Dual extrusion wizard since that requires 2 STLs...

Re: Dissolvable interface between the print and supports

+1 This would be a very useful feature. We are interested in the same thing - protein ribbon structures. And we had similar problems to what's been pointed out above. PVA dissolves much better than HIPS. It's very hygroscopic though. Storage in a plastic bag with the air sucked out is best. HIPS is ...

Re: Print time estimates way off.

Hey folks, I think I have a solution to this. From my data, it was a linear fit (r2 = .98). I posted about it on r/3Dprinting. Hope this helps! https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/48i8j2/simplify3d_print_time_prediciton_solution/ Hi Serious, Would you be willing to share your data and whic...

Hi Sam,

How about adding your data to this collection?
