Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

After 2 years there is nothing to expect anymore, the project has been abandoned. I believe it never was an actual company, just a one-man show and probably it didn't generate enough revenue to be worth the development time. Probably no way to compete with Cura ? It's sad as it is a good project, se...

Why has Simplify3D been abandoned ?

It's been more than 2 years since the last update or patch and the software is far from finished.

I assume the project has been abandoned ?

Re: Dynamic layer thickness

It's being requested since day one.
I don't understand the difficulty in that.
I mean it's a paid slicer, why not add this feature ?
It's not that hard to implement..

Temperature stabilization change

Right now we can only choose to wait for a stable temp or not. To speed up printing with ABS I am pushing the buildplate to 70-80°C Then I start printing and set temperature for Layer 2 and higher to 110°C This helps to start printing within a much shorter time while still keeping the printbed at a ...

Re: Please add brim for support

Since I know about this software people ask for this MUICH NEEDED feature.
Sadly no reactions.

I am not sure if devs read the forums at all

Re: Brim Inside Perimeter

I am surprised this has not been fixed yet. The brim feature is so useful when 3d printing. Rafts are ugly, destroy the surface and take ages. Brims are almost the same, they can be removed like support and bring lots of benefits to a print, especially on ABS) A brim should be optional on all sides ...

Re: Observations on First Layer Speed setting...

From what I have seen PetG is mostly transparent and does not produce the same fine details.
Can it be vapor enhanced using acetone ?

ABS so far got me the best results in terms of quality and strength

Re: Print Speed Should Not Change When You Add More Items

Doesn't that only happen if you pring layer by layer? In such a case it will print all objects as one layer which in effect means you print a larger area so print speed is faster. If you set it to object by object it will finish one process after another it needs cooling time, so printing is longer....

Re: Observations on First Layer Speed setting...

I'm still experimenting. I've used 2 layer brims, maybe it's better at 1 layer brims. But the deformation is really an issue. The standard raft from S3D is quite tall. It has 2 or 3 thick layers and on top another 2 or 3 dense layers. I think it's around 2mm, but enough to keep the heat away from th...

Re: Observations on First Layer Speed setting...

slow Raft speed is multiplied by first layer speed, that's a bug in S3D actually. The raft has an absolute speed setting (I don't know if that can be changed) so the first layer speed needs to be ignored. Or better, let people choose the speed by USING the first layer speed but making it an absolute...
