Re: Something similar to Cura's FuzzySkin

I just wanted to second that request. I'm very interested in this feature.

Re: v4 rafts - first object layer not filled

thanks for your answers. I've played around with the separation distance and indeed, the results became much better. I just wanted to let you know that in my hands, the method I described (larger separation distance, Z-compensation of the 2nd layer) yields still slightly better results (with my favo...

Re: v4 rafts - first object layer not filled

I'm really surprised at the lack of responses here. We find that the default raft in V4 is much worse than in V3 but becomes good again using the workaraound above. Does nobody else share our experience (we're several people here seeing the same problem with two very different printers)? Or am I ove...

v4 rafts - first object layer not filled

Rafts used to work very well for me in V3.1. In V4, the first object layer appears to be much less filled than previously and sometimes, strands are ripped out of the layer and stay with the raft upon removing the latter. So here is what happens: The first layer is dropped onto the raft from Z=(sepa...

Re: First few layers after raft shrink in

I can offer an explanation for the first layer only: In order to reduce the adhesion to the top raft layer, the first layer is extrude from a certain height (the separation distance). This also results in the thread being pulled a bit to the inside of a curve/corner. This effect can be minimized by ...

[ADDED] "Holey" Rafts

With some geometries, S3D wastes a lot of material on rafts. For example, when I want to print a large, thin ring, S3D will currently build a larger, FILLED disc as a raft. Therefore, I propose an option to allow rafts with holes and discontinuous rafts in order to save filament and printing time in...

Re: [Request] excluding some models from rafting

I just gave it a try and it works fine in my hands.
Interestingly, S3D builds the raft first, then builds the raftless part up to the height of the raft, and then starts alternating between the parts as usual.

[ADDED] Vase Mode in multi-process prints

Currently, S3D refuses to generate multi-process code if one or several processes are in vase/corkscrew mode.
As far as I can see, there is no real reason for this severe restriction, if the processes use different height regions. Thus I propose that it be removed.
Please :)

Alternating number of perimeter shells

It would be nice if S3D could be tought to alternate between two numbers of perimeter shells from layer to layer, e.g. such that all odd layers have 3 outlines and all even layer have 5. That way the infills on the odd layers would overlap with the outlines on the even layers, creating a stronger, a...

Re: Filament diameter should be per extruder property

I just wanted to add that I second this request. It is just logical that the filament diameter should be an extrude property...just like the printing speeds, btw.
