Pausing a print to change Filament

So I attempted my first multi-colour print today and it was a partial failure. Having read various post regards this I added the following in to my post-processing box in the FFF profile: {REPLACE "; layer 12, Z = " "M600 X10 Z5\n; layer 12, Z = "} My expectation was that when th...

Re: Final bit of help to perfect prints

Thanks, I did play with the extra restart distance a little bit but it seemed to make things worse. When I say blobs, you see in the close up there's a slight bulge at one end of the layer? I'm going to have another try with just the layers where the issue is most obvious as you suggested. I'm think...

Final bit of help to perfect prints

Hi, I've been tuning and tweaking my printer and my S3D settings. I'm getting really nice results now but there's one thing that I'm still having trouble solving. I get tiny gaps or blobs where the layer starts/ends. I understand that these are going to relate to retraction, coast and wipe settings....

Re: How do I correctly set up profiles for different filamen

Well I'm glad that it's not just me finding this a bit unintuitive. When I previously said that I was creating new 'profiles' I meant 'materials'. I keep the same 'profile' and I create a new 'material' for each reel of filament. As you say only a very limited subset of the settings seem to be affec...

How do I correctly set up profiles for different filaments?

Hi, I've been using Simplify3D for 6 months or so and I've finally gotten to a point where I'm very happy with my print settings, giving me reliable prints 99% of the time. So far every time I've used a different filament I use the + button in process settings and create a new profile for that filam...

Re: Printing single wall object?

Thanks, these troubleshooting steps are actually really good. I suspect I could do with a very slight increase in extrusion however not too much as at 0.98 my two-euro test failed. I'm currently at 0.96 with coast and wipe disabled and getting reasonably good results. I'll continue to monitor my pri...

Re: Printing single wall object?

Thanks guys, I did eventually work out that I could use a solid object with 0% infill and one perimeter. I will try out the 'merge all outlines' option so that I can use my standard calibration piece going forwards. One thing which I have found a slight issue with is calibrating the extrusion multip...
