Re: Wrong Extruder for Support

Well I think I have figured this out, but dual-extrusion sure is confusing. After doing the dual-extrusion wizard and saying which model uses which extruder, it creates a Dual Extrusion Process with two sub-processes, one for each color. it seems that I need to go into the profile for each color, a...

S3D with UM3, fails to print

Ok, brand new UM3, tried printing with Cura and was soon reminded of the reasons I don't use Cura. So I decided to switch over to trusty S3D. The first sign that things were not going well was the "prime" line. It started with the left extruder and drew a line from the left side to the center. That ...

Re: S3D no longer generates supports?

It's explained here too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tlrCpwAV4M If your model has very small features that are only 1-2mm in size, you can't try to use a 4mm resolution for the supports. So if you have small features on the model you need to reduce the pillar resolution. I have watched that vi...

Re: S3D no longer generates supports?

Changing the resolution made supports appear where they should be (thank you for that tip), though I do not understand why. That link has a lot of useful information, but it does not explain why a larger support resolution will make S3D ignore areas that clearly need support. At first I thought that...

S3D no longer generates supports?

S3D has always been great about supports, until recently. I am not sure if this lines up with 4.0 or if it started happening earlier than that, but its only putting a small fraction of the supports that are needed by the model. Here is an example of a dragon in S3D. There are quite a few areas on th...

Ultimaker 3 print core compatibility?

Hello Simplify3D community! I bought S3D for my first printer, then upgraded my printer, and that whole time S3D has been nothing but Amazing. I am thinking of upgrading my printer yet another time, but from all reports (that are admittedly a year old) S3D doesn't work very well with the Ultimaker 3...

Re: Slicer removes chunks of the model

Thank you for your suggestion. Fixer websites did remove that particular issue.

The model "looks" solid, so why would S3D slice it with huge gaps?

Slicer removes chunks of the model

I have a model I downloaded from thingiverse and when I slice it, it has large chunks removed. Its really bad at 0.2 mm and just bad at 0.1 mm Here is the section of the model: https://thumb.ibb.co/kZJp3Q/model.png Here is the same section in the gcode preview at 0.1 mm layer height: https://thumb.i...

Circular Gaps

I am trying to figureout what is causing these gaps (and similar in many other prints with circles), and how to eliminate them:

I have attached a factory file. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Re: Gaps in the bottom layer?

Your part has a fairly thin section, so I would not use a first layer thickness over 100%. I know that reducing the first layer thickness to 100% allows the gaps to be filled, but this is not an option. It takes a fairly large first layer thickness for the part to stick to the bed. You've not shown...
