Re: what is the best 3d printer of the market ?

I'm afraid there's no simple answer to this question. :) It really depends on what you want to do with the printer, and how involved you want to be with assembling it and using it. If you are going to be printing filaments other than PLA you will need a heated bed. If you are looking at this as a ho...

Re: Variable Settings (Can't create splits)

Hi again Owen, Sorry for my delay this time. :) I've just had a look at my settings and the origin offset on the Z axis is set to 0 for all of my profiles. It may not fix your problem, but it's probably worth setting your Z axis offset to 0 (or near 0) If your printer has an inverted Z axis, you may...

Re: Variable Settings (Can't create splits)

Hi Owen, A couple of questions: 1. What printer are you using, and does it print from top to bottom like an SLA printer, rather than bottom to top like an FFF printer? 2. Are you using a standard profile, or did you create your own? I have profiles for multiple printers (all are FFF) and all profile...

Re: Import supports issue

Chaps, @dkightley - I know this is "just how S3D works...", I've just found that out, but I think it is wrong or at least counterintuitive and that's why I'm reporting it as a bug. :) @horst.w - In the Support Generation dialog open there is an option to "Export Supports", that's...

Import supports issue

Hi, I have a model that I did custom supports for, on one of my printers. Upon loading the model and importing the supports, it seems they are placed relative to the printer's origin, rather than an origin specific to to the model. To reproduce: Create new workspace for printer A. Import model. Add ...

Re: Hair coming out like Morse code

It doesn't sound like exactly the same thing, but I was seeing similar issues with very small models I was printing. In my case, it was the coasting settings that made the render look like it was going to fail, but the print was actually OK. If you set your coast setting to zero, what does the model...

Re: Reload Part

+1 This would make my design workflow so much easier, I spend a lot of time deleting, re-importing then re-slicing my model after each tweak in my modelling software, making the print ideal for printing. One or more of the following would be ideal: Right-click on a model in the model list and select...

Re: Select a LAYER after which to stop...

Yes +1 for that idea! I wanted to add captive nuts to a print yesterday, the only way to find the correct boundary to pause at was to adjust the process setting (in mm) and prep repeatedly, even though I could see the correct layer to halt at from the slider in previous mode when it it is set to pre...
