Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

Well, OK, so future S3D development seems unlikely. Let's hope it isn't because of something terrible. S3D still does not suck. It hardly rates an "I'll never use it again!" kind of attitude towards it. It still prints things I can't print using CURA, and I've yet to come to grips with Slicer, Prusa...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

Bummer, Well, it does appear dead, not a single comment in months and not a single update in years. If they really are belly-up then it is only a matter of time before the servers go down and our software stops working. So, time to find an "unusual" way to keep the software running. kind of a drag. ...

Re: Changing a layer flow rate in a script?

Here's a very simple way of achieving the same result...... 1) Increase the first layer height 2) Reduce the Global-Z height. Just because there isn't a setting that says "Make a cup of tea." it doesn't mean you're going to go thirsty!! I do know of a way to increase the flow rate for one specific ...

Changing a layer flow rate in a script?

There is one feature that I really like in CURA where you can increase the flow rate on the first layer to get a better "smoosh" and a smoother surface. S3D only allows you to change the line width, that REALLY isn't the same thing. There are a variety of hidden scripting changes that you can make a...

Re: Giving Up on S3D

Well, It sure seems like S3D future development is dead. But. Nothing else out there that I have found, free or otherwise, can dual dual filament printing better. All the other slicers treat multiple filament as some side-job, with little attention paid. CURA seems particularly random in how it deal...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

Huh. Don't know, don't care. Getting ANY slicer to work well is a never-ending chore that changes with the seasons, the filament, the color of the filament and the printer. Once I get something to work, I use it. Just like printing a WORD doc on my computer, I don't care about the revision of the dr...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

good afternoon. sorry but I don't want to read the whole thread. tell me what about the dates of the new release? thanks. A release date has not been announced. You may not think S3D is dead, but a large number of your customers do. I'm a Simplify3D employee and there's not just me here on our comm...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

simplify is only on my machine until i can cobble together a decent prusa slicer profile for my sapphire pro then its gone Isn't that a bit of an over-reaction? V5 not coming out does not make V4 suddenly unusable. I still think that S3D is the easiest slicer to use out there. I have tried every ot...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

sorry but my hope is gone. Prusaslicer is the way to go now! I think they may have done it. The alpha version of the next release of PrusaSlicer has ironing, but more importantly it has "paint on" support placement (or support denial) locations. So if you want to only support one area, you just pai...

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

sorry but my hope is gone. Prusaslicer is the way to go now! After I read this comment I downloaded Prusaslicer's latest version. Wow. LIke S3D and unlike CURA, it starts up fast. It has advanced settings, allows setting various profile types and even directly (and simply) connects to Octoprint and...
