Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

I consider S3D abandonware at this point. I tell everyone to avoid it now. I'm pretty sure V5 was never in the works, they made vague statements to hype up the software for one last surge of purchases before they ultimately just drop it. To be honest I'm surprised their webpage and servers still ru...

Re: Error When Creating Manual Supports

I see the same as the OP, and it makes no sense that S3D should create holes where supports overlap. Placing supports manually with overlap is an easy way to ensure that all of the area you want supported is covered, and that worked as it should in version 4.0.1 (and earlier). In later versions, S3D...

Re: First layer issue after 4.1.2 update

The change where extrusion amount is reduced if first layer height is set below 100% was introduced in version 4.1.0, so you must have come from an older version than that, I guess. The workaround to get the same effect as in versions prior to 4.1.0 is to use a small negative global z offset (as out...

Re: Paid upgrade For 2019 upcoming Version 5.0

i heard they will move away from stl files ,which is a good thing . i hope i would be able to upload a solidworks file directly (other cad also ok) this will definitely differentiate s3d from regular slicers and will be a good move. I have a hard time believing any of that. Adding support for direc...

Re: Should have posted as Beta.

I agree, but that's most likely never going to happen. Simplify3D is all about secrecy, and posting beta versions is a violation of that.

Re: V4.1 Issues with walls

Doug, thanks for voicing this, I'm hoping this can get some traction with S3D. However, given the history, I'm not very hopeful, at least not for a few months. Instead of going back to the 4.0.1 behavior, perhaps S3D could have made a function so that it dynamically added more perimeters in problem ...

Re: V 4.1 Retraction at layer change and outline crossing

Ok, then it's probably a bug. At this point, it might be better to just stick to version 4.0.1 for a few months until a bugfix version is released.

I'm not seeing this. Could you post a factory file?

Re: V4.1 prints non-existing geometry

Attached is a simplified model that exhibits the same bug. It is clearly linked to "Internal Thin Wall Type", because if that is set to something other than "Allow single extrusion fill", the bug does not show.

Re: V4.1 prints non-existing geometry

3Try replacing your shape file with the attached file....and see if it slices correctly. It does. I gather you've remeshed it in some other application (3D Builder?), which obviously recreates the geometry by redrawing the triangles and also changing the amount of triangles in the mesh. So getting ...
