Re: PETG Printing

Where are these snot balls coming from and how do I get rid of them? I believe the technical term is "zits"... It tends to be worse with PETG than PLA. Check out the trouble shooting guide: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/blobs-and-zits/ Basically, you nee...

Re: Filling horizontal holes

This may be related to a problem with voids in perimeters that I have battled with off & on for years. Here's a lengthy discussion of experiments I've tried, and the results:

Re: Swap inside and outside shells

If you have a model, a booleon combine operation should allow you to create what you need. It shouldn't be too tricky. If you just have a thin shell, you could use that to "split" something with the thickness you need.

Re: Second license

Why can't you create gcode files with S3D, save them & then send them to the printers? S3D doesn't need to be in constant communications with a printer to print. My printer has a SD card interface, and I never send files to the printer directly from S3D.

Re: The problem of leaking water

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) printing is naturally porous unless you have ALL your parameters absolutely perfect. Even then, I doubt you can reliably print something that won't leak. If I need something that is truly leakproof, I seal the print when I'm done. For PLA, I use something called Penet...

Re: Ender 3S 1 not in configuration assistant

I, for one, would like to thank Doug for all of his past efforts to help people, myself included. I can also sympathize with his being a bit tired of the steady stream of queries about "I need a configuration for my new printer XYZ". This is a user forum, not a repository for printer confi...

Re: Tapered Coasting

I've considered it, but I just don't have the time to take on a major retrofit project like that. I've pinged Makergear to see if they have any plans to update the Marlin firmware to to latest version, but I suspect it's a low priority. Someone on the Makergear forum has done the firmware upgrade fr...

Re: Tapered Coasting

Unfortunately, Linear Advance is an update to Marlin firmware. The newer versions that contains it are not supported by some older printers. My Makergear MG2 for one...

Re: How to use script to move up Z at specific layer??

If you are building up gunk on the nozzle tip, do you have Z-lift enabled? I've found that helps a lot. I prevents the tip from dragging across the print when it's traveling to a new location over existing material.
