Happy 2nd Anniversary, Ver. 4.1.2

It's been 2 years to the day that S3D posted an update to their software. Since then, there has been nothing but empty promises about the mythical version 5. The last item posted on their blog was 7 months ago about all the new infrastructure they were putting in place to support the mythical Versio...

Re: New printer can't handle unsupported overhangs

Thanks for the advice. I'll try turning on the fan and see if that does anything, along with increasing the speed. I'd hate to have to decrease the layer height (because it will increase time so much), but I may try that as well if the first two do nothing. It may be more a difference in air flow a...

It's not the "updater" that is broken, it's the software development process at S3D that is busted....

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

After waiting all this time for an upgrade, I'm still OK with paying for it IF it is all it should be after all this time. I have now also had plenty of time to get PrusaSlicer working as a backup. I still prefer S3D, but if they go to a subscription system, I'm out of here...

Re: Recharging an stl

Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do this easily in the current version. This is one of the MANY feature requests that should have been addressed in the phantom "Version 5" that was originally supposed to be out before the end of 2019...

Re: Strange waves in print wall

I managed to reduce the same effect on my printer by re-tensioning the belts. After three years, the X-axis belt in particular was looser than it should be. I also cleaned & lubricated the linear bearings. This was on a MakerGear M2E so your drive hardware may be quite different. That main thing is ...

Re: split big models

I use dovetails a lot to connect parts for larger models. I also use them to assemble multiple smaller parts where I don't want to mess up the cosmetics by using supports. Here's a magnetically mounted screw driver rack. There are two side pieces for the screw drivers, two end pieces with the magnet...

Re: prevent suppot in a small hole?

One trick is to make the top of the hole conical. If the cone is at a steep enough angle, it won't need or generate supports. If the hole HAS to have a flat top or you can't edit the file, you can go into the supports menu on the right side of the main display, and remove just those supports. It loo...

Re: Bed shifts on Z during printing, forming blobs in layers.

Just a thought: If the blobs are sticking up a little, the layer shift can be caused if the extruder smacks into one. Try a little Z lift & see if that helps.
