Re: Second license

Why can't you create gcode files with S3D, save them & then send them to the printers? S3D doesn't need to be in constant communications with a printer to print. My printer has a SD card interface, and I never send files to the printer directly from S3D.

Re: The problem of leaking water

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) printing is naturally porous unless you have ALL your parameters absolutely perfect. Even then, I doubt you can reliably print something that won't leak. If I need something that is truly leakproof, I seal the print when I'm done. For PLA, I use something called Penet...

Re: Ender 3S 1 not in configuration assistant

I, for one, would like to thank Doug for all of his past efforts to help people, myself included. I can also sympathize with his being a bit tired of the steady stream of queries about "I need a configuration for my new printer XYZ". This is a user forum, not a repository for printer confi...

Re: Tapered Coasting

I've considered it, but I just don't have the time to take on a major retrofit project like that. I've pinged Makergear to see if they have any plans to update the Marlin firmware to to latest version, but I suspect it's a low priority. Someone on the Makergear forum has done the firmware upgrade fr...

Re: Tapered Coasting

Unfortunately, Linear Advance is an update to Marlin firmware. The newer versions that contains it are not supported by some older printers. My Makergear MG2 for one...

Re: How to use script to move up Z at specific layer??

If you are building up gunk on the nozzle tip, do you have Z-lift enabled? I've found that helps a lot. I prevents the tip from dragging across the print when it's traveling to a new location over existing material.

Re: The actual print is not the same as the program.

Lots of people have reported issues with gaps in walls. The simulation may show 3 passes, but if the slicer is telling the extruder to back off on the amount of material being extruded to fill a narrow gap, I don't think the preview has any way of indicating that. If the calculation for how much to ...

Re: dealing with DRM woes

I use PrusaSlicer for a lot of my day to day prints. However, there are still things S3D does better, and I occasionally have to switch back. I ran a print last week that had a mysterious deformation in PrusaSlicer, but it came out perfect in S3D. I think it's a bug in PrusaSlicer, but I have no ide...

Re: Request for an honest update

I've spend a lot of time using PrusaSlicer (PS) lately. It does some things better than S3D, and I tend to use it for general printing more than S3D now. I don't like the way it organizes and saves jobs internally. They split a print job into Print, Filament & Printer settings, but some of the p...
