Re: Hairy prints!

Also, if your filament has been sitting around or the packaging leaked, moisture can make stringing much worse. Try drying it and see if that helps.

Re: Hairy prints.

It's called "stringing", and it can be affected by lots of things. Here's the trouble-shooting guide on the subject: https://www.simplify3d.com/resources/print-quality-troubleshooting/stringing-or-oozing/ I've had stringing problems with older filament, especially if it has absorbed moistu...

Re: Ironing

Unless I want to spend a lot of time optimizing the top layer (which will require a separate process) for every different filament I have, ironing is pretty useful.

I've never seen any posts on how to optimize the top layer to the point where ironing would be superfluous.

Re: Ironing

I just used ironing for the first time last night, using PrusaSlicer. I would have been using ironing for a lot of things I used to print with S3D, had it been available. I was VERY disappointed to find that it wasn't included in Ver. 5 after waiting years for its release, and seeing constant reques...

Re: "Random" Pauses

What printer are you using? Are you printing from the SD card? That's definitely the more reliable method for long prints. Custom CR-10S. I print via USB from S3D v4.1.2; my laptop is in the garage next to my printer, so that's I use that version. Windows will occasionally probe or shut down a USB ...

Re: V5 temps on machine control panel reset to default when reconnecting machine

I think this is related to the problem I ran into with the default retraction speed. It switches back to a setting that is way too high every time I use it. In V4, the control panel opens up using the last settings. I don't consider this a feature request. It worked fine in V4, and therefore is expe...

Re: Smooth Bottom - Small Part (IMAGE UPDATED)

Have you calibrated your extrusion multiplier?

If that is all set, you can set up a process for the first layer with a higher extrusion multiplier to fill things in a bit better.

Re: PETG Stringing

PETG is very "oozy" material. It gets worse the hotter you run it so operating at a low temperature should help. I haven't used the Overture filament, but I run PETG at ~ 240C. I still get occasional strings, but it's not bad. If you just use standard retraction, it pulls the filament back...

Re: Speed and Multiplier Wheels in Machine Control Panel

What I don't understand is why they messed with the Control Panel in the first place. It worked really well, and people were used to it. I don't recall seeing any feature requests for it. Instead, they clearly wasted a lot of time & energy messing it up, instead of focusing on getting the import...
