Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

The "harshness" is largely the result of YEARS of pent up frustration with the broken promises and lack of information coming from S3D. If they were having development problems, they needed to share that with the users as opposed to stonewalling their customer base. I've been involved with software ...

Re: Printer ejecting filament during first layer problem

If it always happens on the first layer, you can shrink the gcode file down by only trying to print the first layer or two.

Go to the "Advanced" tab, and set the print start & stop height to 0 & (for example) 1mm. Just to be sure, try printing that to make sure it still messes up.

Re: Printer ejecting filament during first layer problem

Does it only happen with this one print? I'd try a known good print file to make sure it's not a hardware issue like a loose connection.

Re: Printer ejecting filament during first layer problem

Check your retraction settings. I once made a typo and told it to retract 90 mm instead of 0.90 mm.

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Ver. 4.1.2

It's been 2 years to the day that S3D posted an update to their software. Since then, there has been nothing but empty promises about the mythical version 5. The last item posted on their blog was 7 months ago about all the new infrastructure they were putting in place to support the mythical Versio...

Re: New printer can't handle unsupported overhangs

Thanks for the advice. I'll try turning on the fan and see if that does anything, along with increasing the speed. I'd hate to have to decrease the layer height (because it will increase time so much), but I may try that as well if the first two do nothing. It may be more a difference in air flow a...

It's not the "updater" that is broken, it's the software development process at S3D that is busted....

Re: OK, Time to Start Yet Another "Where is Version 5? " Thread

After waiting all this time for an upgrade, I'm still OK with paying for it IF it is all it should be after all this time. I have now also had plenty of time to get PrusaSlicer working as a backup. I still prefer S3D, but if they go to a subscription system, I'm out of here...

Re: Recharging an stl

Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do this easily in the current version. This is one of the MANY feature requests that should have been addressed in the phantom "Version 5" that was originally supposed to be out before the end of 2019...
