Re: how to flatten the top of a model

It depends on how deep of an impression you want to make. You'll just have to experiment.

Re: Really bad seam lines!

You usually trade quality when you go for speed. How does it come out if you randomize the start points for the layers?

Re: Can't get this stl to print as is

Probably not an optimized model. Many times, you can fix gaps like this by going into the Mesh menu and selecting "Separate connected surfaces".

Tetrahydrofuran dissolves PETG and evaporates quickly. But it is hard to find and have to be used outside because of toxic fumes.
I've tried some solvent solutions on PETG with limited success. I have not tried Gorilla Glue, which I think would work. It would expand into the inter-layer spaces.

Re: how to flatten the top of a model

That's a design issue. You should go back into your design app and fix it there.

However, you can fix it in S3D by going to the Advanced tab in the process window and specifying a "stop at height" value (and checking the checkbox). Leave the "start at height" checkbox unchecked.

Re: Easiest 3D modeling software?

- Fusion 360 - I recently started using Fusion, it's bit counter intuitive for solidworks/onshape/creo users but on the other hand very similar, it is parametric but also have a mesh editing too so should be easier for organic stuff (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRMzg2X_sX0 ). There's also ...

Re: Easiest 3D modeling software?

I come from an engineering background (electrical) and of the software I've tried (Blender, TinkerCAD, FreeCAD, Fusion 360), I've liked Fusion 360 the best. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the gist of how Fusion 360 operates, modelling is pretty quick and easy, for me at least. B...

Re: How to edit models

Just double-click on the model. It'll bring up a side panel with movement and rotation controls.

Re: Different file icons

That may help the OP, but I'm not sure it would work for me on my Mac.
