Re: Optimizing Slicing Settings for Different Filaments

If you have PLA and PETG and a dual-extruder printer, each can be used as the support material for the other and they'll bond weakly, making the supports easy to remove.

Re: File is not slicing correctly.

I've had an issue similar to this but not as extreme. The solution I used to fix that appears to work for this issue:

Go to the Advanced tab of the Process Settings and change the Slicing Region Repair Mode to "Alternating Fill". I've attached the modified factory file.

Re: Software not liking sharp corners

Try setting Advanced>Thin Wall Behavior>External Thin Wall Type to "Allow Single Extrusions". That fixed hole problems I had in some text.

Re: Raft printing problem

I never use rafts. I use brims instead. You can specify the number of outlines and the number of layers.

Re: V5 set default bed size

When you update the profile in the Edit Process Settings window, that should update the bed size from then on when using that profile. It won't fix any factory files you may have created previously.

Re: MacBook Friendliness

it's taken me 3 years of S3d usage to figure out that I can PAN in the model viewport by holding down CONTROL, performing a mechanical click and dragging. Until now I actually thought it was impossible and for 3 years have struggled to examine support material by merely rotating - and sometimes mov...

Re: Gaps in top layers

I tried those suggestions and the results were not great. While they did fill in the gaps, they also expanded the outlines, making the letters "muddier". I actually printed with my initial discovery and the results were good.

Re: Inconsistent top/bottom surfaces with coarse layer height

Another option along those lines is to use the Dense Infill settings to transition between your main infill and a fine enough infill to support smooth top layers. I always use at least 3 top layers regardless, sometimes more if I'm using Adaptive Layer Heights. Speaking of which, it would be nice to...

Re: Gaps in top layers

I think I improved it a little by changing "Internal Thin Wall Type" to "Allow Single Extrusions" (at least in the preview), but it's still not addressing 100% of the gaps.
