I use Solidworks so do you have Autodesk Inventor? Use the CAD shell command then do 1 shell only in the 3d print. So have your CAD do the shelling on the side you want the additional material to go to. You basically are overriding the shell command in alot of ways by doing this, but yet getting the...

Just do a shell function in your CAD program and give the offset surface about .025 inches thick. Then do a 2 shell max on the print.

Ok so i and Simplify Support have worked out a couple setting changes that cleared this up. We reduced the Extrusion Multiplier to 0.90. We set the internal Fill Pattern to Rectilinear and the Outline Overlap to 20%. We also enabled Avoid Crossing Outline for Travel Movements. Then We disabled Coast...

The speed is within 10% of the makerbot setting. I sent simplify3d a email but have not hear anything for a couple of days.

So i have a couple makerbots and they do well. I did notice a difference in print quality from the makerbot software vs simplify3d. Suggestion on changes to make on my SImplify3d settings. So i have been 3d printing for years now and i have a Makerbot Replicator+ and a Z18. They print very well and we have them really dialed in. However the Makerbot software has become very buggy and with no user control on where to place support material. They also really are slow fixing major issues...
