Yep, got caught out on the top the first time I used the adaptive layers on an 5 hr print
Having the option to specify the layer count and mm height's, then the software using whichever variable results in the thickest final result

It was only running around the perimeter once and not twice while I was watching it?
With calibrated extruder and the extrusion multiplier set to 1.0 im getting a single printed wall thickness of 0.63mm

I had this same issue when I started using S3D after coming from Cura. Not sure if its yours though
My problem was fixed in the advanced tab, Thin wall behaviour. Set External wall to "allow single extrusion walls"

That was one of my first print with S3D, I ended up using that single extrusion infill. Didn't quite help. I also noticed I was getting a little under extrusion in other places.
