It would just be guess and check at that point. You can run a print, see how it looks, make an adjustment and print again until you have it dialed in.
Best just to spend $15 and get a cheap pair of eBay digital calipers. They will suffice for what you need to do.

I had a similar issue with mine when using PLA but not ABS. If this is the case for you, then it may be that the heat is rising from the hot end into the gears causing the gears to heat up too much, thus slightly melting the plastic causing it to not be gripped by the gears to pull it through to the...

I have autosave, but still smash ctrl + s every time I edit anything.
Ctrl-Shift-S is already used for "Save All" (i.e. to save multiple unsaved files) by both Microsoft and non-Microsoft apps.
