Linux version issues

Anyone that reads any of these forums can see that S3D has never really had a handle on their Linux version for some reason. Even way back it was always some hoop you had to jump through here and there to get it to run but it was still sold as commercial software with Linux support. And today its th...

Re: Problems running V5 on Linux

I feel ya. They have a Linux version but it doesnt work if you use their installer. And like you said running as 'root' is simply stupid. The Linux support for 4 was spotty but you could work around it. This version? I paid but i cant run it unless I run it as 'root'. Yeah....nope. You posted a deta...

Install on Ubuntu 22.10 results in unusable software.

Lets take a different approach to this as I am tired of posting Linux install issues that get ignored for years. Someone at S3D: Install Ubuntu 22.10 then install your software as a regular user. Report back when you lack a desktop launcher and you cant launch S3D from a shell without "Failed t...

Re: Update from 4.1.2 to 5.0.0 - Failed to activate software

Hmm. Good info but this does not work for me. So nice of a company to provide a Linux version but not so nice when installations fail on the current version of Ubuntu. Ya know, some obscure distro that nobody uses... This probably wont even get posted. The moderation here is insane for commercial so...

Re: V5 Linux missing .desktop file

I cant speak for Arch but with V4 it never installed a launcher file properly. It has been an issue for a long time, pretty sure I have a 4 year old plus bug report on it.

Linux launcher for Gnome/KDE/etc

I cant pretend to understand why anyone would provide commercial software for Linux but not install a .desktop to create a menu entry in any of the modern Linux desktop environments but here we are. You have a GUI installer that takes your credentials and launches the software but then after that......
