I've seen this happen with models that have a bad mesh.
Here at work I see it happen quite a bit when transferring a model from one CAD software to another.

5.1.2 Under Extrusion
After going from 5.1.0 to 5.1.2 all of my prints on all of my machines under extrude. Reinstalled 5.1.0 matched all the settings and 5.1.0 works great go back to 5.1.2 and under extrusion galore.
