Yes, making the changes VERY apparent and clear cut like the open source slicers would be amazing. Reset icons next to changed settings, and confirmation of settings getting changed when loading a new object/process/profile and options to "transfer" the settings.

Unfortunately they've gone an entire year with no updates, no communication about updates, no roadmap, no nothing. All but abandonware at this point sadly. The free slicers are LIGHT YEARS beyond this.

Other slicers that support opening STEP ultimately just convert them to a mesh (STL) internally. However, the convenience of directly opening a STEP is far better than STL.

I think the right move for Simplify3D going forward, after being silent about an update for years, is to issue a statement (apology) for doing this to the customers and OEM's with a commitment to transparency.
