Re: What s3d is really missing are two things

Been using S3D for a long time now. Been saying the same thing. There are plenty of threads already on the subject. Just did another dual color print in Makerware. It worked fine. I don't even bother with S3D if I want two color/support material prints. I tried every tip/quirk/hack/suggestion for mo...

Re: Why switch to Simplify3D?

The biggest reasons for me above other tools are: 1) much much faster slicing. -> saves me way over the cost of the tool and more in time. 2) Easy to customize support material -> definitely helps get better prints and wastes less material and makes faster prints. That said, infill, dual extrusion a...

Re: MASSIVE memory leaks

I've reported this in the past clear from early 2.0 releases.
I have 16GB on my Mac and if I don't restart S3D on occasion it can bring the machine to a crawl.

Re: Question about extrusion widht calibration

Leave extrusion width at .42. When you put it to .28 only 1/2 the plastic is going to be extruded. It will also make the toolpath 1/2 the distance apart but really it's difficult to get good results not pushing enough plastic through the extruder. For my profiles, I don't need to adjust extrusion mu...

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] - Infil Patterns

Requested and commented many many times already.
But
+1 anyway because I still need different infill settings.

Re: exceed max feed rate warning

+1. Exact same issue. First printer was a .4 nozzle. 2nd printer is .5 nozzle and on the 2nd I've had lots of problems needing to slow prints down because filament wasn't extruding up to the current speed settings. On a very related note... how do you measure your max rate? Just use the control pane...

Re: Give me your Infill tips

For 200% extrusion, you can also decrease the speed by 50% and see if you still have the issue. But yeah... clicking means you're pushing plastic out too fast. One material I had I couldn't actually raise the temperature much. I tried but instead of flowing smoothly it would get too soft too far awa...

Re: external support only

Yep, just clarifying since sometimes it can be confusing.

Luckily S3D has hands down the best slicer preview I've seen of any of them all so you can figure out pretty easily if you got your settings right or not.

Re: external support only

jimc wrote:There is no internal support. Support is external only. If its within the model then its infill. Turn your infill to 0
If you have a model that is modeled as a hollow object instead of solid, it will still put support on the inside instead of infill.

Re: Extremely Thin Walls - Makerbot Replicator 2/Sailfish

It looks like simplify3d is flagging that wall as having a thickness LESS than your extrusion width. Makerbot probably doesn't care and plows ahead regardless. Either make the wall thickness equal to or greater than your extrusion width (probably .4mm). you can also experiment with lower extrusion ...
