Re: First Layer Settings, Height, Width etc question

You can figure it out pretty easily by looking through the gcode. My raft with default settings prints around 220% height, 200% width, and nice and slow to make sure it sticks. That's using default medium settings with 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer heights. I imagine that if you are printing at a lo...

Re: Dissolvable interface between the print and supports

+1 This is a really good idea, and probably not difficult to implement. As far as ABS+HIPS is concerned, I must say that I have not been impressed with using HIPS as soluble support material for ABS. The D-limonene used to dissolve the HIPS doesn't work that well and can damage the ABS, and even dis...

Re: 1st Layer

That works for some types of prints. But unfortunately, when you use separate processes for different layers some of the Simplify3D features, such as Use Skirt/Brim , will stop working when you go to the second process. This is not supposed to happen. It's a process switching bug that affects quite ...

Re: A notes section

+1

Notes are easy to add and can be extremely useful.

I would like to see several optional note areas in the software:
  1. Factory Specific Notes
  2. Model Specific Notes
  3. Process Specific Notes
  4. Filament Specific Notes
  5. Print Quality Specific Notes
  6. Extruder Specific Notes
  7. Profile Specific Notes

Re: 1st Layer

I agree. Having a 1st Layer Extrusion Multiplier adjustment that overrides Extrusion Multiplier would be helpful. There are cases where you want to extrude more filament for the first layer when you need to improve layer bonding. There are also cases where you want to extrude less filament for the f...

Re: Default Feed Rate and Maximum Feed Rate

I am printing today and using different layer heights and extrusion widths for different transparency effects using clear PETG. Transparency is greatly increased if you use larger extrusion widths and larger layer heights, and larger nozzles. If you push your largest nozzle to the limits, you can ge...

Re: Maximum feedrate setting for each material

I'd like to see something done about this. I requested a very similar feature here: Default Feed Rate and Maximum Feed Rate I don't think my printer supports M203. For me, like in my post linked above, I need this done in software from within Simplify3D. Simplify3D internally calculates the extruder...

Re: Default Feed Rate and Maximum Feed Rate

One of the main causes of a 3D printer jam is exceeding your 3D printer's feed rate. Most 3D printers cannot print ABS faster than about 13.50mm³/s using a 0.40mm nozzle. Filament manufacturers should tell you this. But instead they give mm/s speed recommendations, which is nearly useless. If your p...

Re: Filament feed rate limit instead of nozzle speed limit

I agree. This is absolutely needed. I get the impression that many people don't really understand the distinction between feed rate and print speed, and that's why these requests don't get taken seriously by the rest of the people on this forum. I put together a request for both Default Feed Rate an...

Default Feed Rate and Maximum Feed Rate

To help prevent print failures and especially print jams, we need to be able to read and set the current Default Feed Rate . This is an important feature that's missing in Simplify3D, and probably most people don't realize how important this actually is. Feed rate is measured in mm³/s (cubic millime...
