Re: Start of print not extruding for several cm

So they actually downgraded S3D? They made it worse? Did I pay them to do this? No, it was an "upgrade". The loss of functionality wasn't intentional. See here: http://www.simplify3d.com/software/changelog/ In Version 2.2.0, this new feature made tricks to get 2 skirts no longer work: * Improved in...

Re: Start of print not extruding for several cm

The tricks for getting two separate purge walls for a dual color print that I used to do are no longer supported in the latest versions Simplify3D  It now merges the purge walls into a single color purge wall (unless the 2 colors are printed far away from each other)

BUG: Cooling Speed Reduction Affects First Layer Speed

The value "Allow speed reductions down to" in the "Cooling" tab doesn't just affect cooling operations. This is also affecting the settings I set for "First Layer Speed" in the "Layer" tab. This is either a bug or very strange unexpected behavior. For example, I usually print without a raft. To achi...

Re: More options for stronger infill.

i guess i would be envious if all i printed were half completed parts Infill can show through transparent filament. Ugly infill can negatively impact people when you show them a prototype that's transparent. and not actually prototyping designs I do both prototypes for structural parts and objects ...

Re: More options for stronger infill.

These are just some of the optional infill patterns found in other slicers: * convex * rectilinear (we have this!) * concentric (we have this, but only for external infill) * honeycomb (many WISH we have this) * hilbert curve (really? what's this for?) * octagram spiral (bizzarre!) * triangle * shar...

Re: Steps Per MM Adjustment Assistance Required

Better to do a real firmware calibration.. If you have this option in your printer's firmware, good for you. You can set it there and you're all done. However, not all printers have such settings in their firmware that the user can change, otherwise we wouldn't be requesting it in Simplify3D. Some ...

Re: More options for stronger infill.

Being a software engineer myself, I would imagine that one of the critical things to keep the business side of Simplify3D expanding is for the engineers to concentrate on supporting new and popular hardware. If the software only supports outdated hardware, it will not continue to sell. So I think th...

Re: More options for stronger infill.

+1, just bumping up the thread so it gets viewed more by the Simplify3D engineers. A lot of options were discussed in this thread. Having more choices when it comes to the line layout of the infill pattern will make me happy, whether hexagon, triangle, custom (my preference), etc. The more options t...

Re: Improvement Request: Generate Raft only under supported

+1, this is a very useful feature. I normally try to print without a raft, but sometimes support is so thin that the support falls over without a raft, so in those cases I need to either add a raft or modify the model to have it's own built in raft for the support area.

Re: Interface layer settings for infill

I agree. This will be useful to have for infill as well!
