Re: Add extra Z axis movement between layers?

Ok. Thanks for that. I'll test it Monday and see what happens. I did finally get a clean print yesterday, and discovered a great way to get Taulman Nylon to stick to the build surface. Drop a dab of Elmer's Glue and spread it around where the part will be printed. A thin coat is all you need. Add a ...

Re: Add extra Z axis movement between layers?

I'm not sure that's it. It moves the print around while it's printing the next layer. While there's a good size gap when the first few layers are printed, that gap shrinks to the point that it starts moving the print around while it's printing. I did find a spot under Tools > Firmware Configuration ...

Add extra Z axis movement between layers?

As my prints progress the nozzle gets closer and closer to the print. Eventually it starts bumping it causing loss of adhesion and ruining the print.

Is there a way to set an additional movement between layers to offset this?

Thanks.

That was perfect. Thank You!

Not sure why I didn't see that before. Hidden in plain sight I guess. :)

Possible to print only layers 1-5?

I'm using Simplify3D to drive a QU-BD Two-Up printer that I converted to a laser etcher. The models that I'm using are to big to load into Sketchup and I'm no good with any other programs that would be able to export an STL. I was wondering if there's a way to tell Simplify3D to only print from laye...

Re: Laser cutter on QU-BD Two-Up printer.

Thanks again for your help. The process worked flawlessly and after some tinkering and hair pulling and more tinkering I ended up with a pretty good result.

Re: Reverse Z axis for laser cutting/etching.

It dawned on me right after I posted this.

Forget about telling the software to flip the axis. Just flip the model. :)

Reverse Z axis for laser cutting/etching.

So I'm using a laser instead of an extruder. I've tried every setting including the ones to flip the Z axis, which requires unchecking the box for the Y axis, but all that does is flip the preview, not the actual action.

Re: Laser cutter on QU-BD Two-Up printer.

I found another laser module that advises using the D9 (auxiliary fan) connector on the RAMPS board to control the laser. M106 to turn it on, M107 to turn it off. I suppose I can generate the G-Code and then edit all of the extruder commands to use those codes, but I was hoping for a simple configur...
