Re: Overhangs not being supported

Just to bump this, since I still encounter it: I tested ideaMaker & CraftWare, they both fail as well with automatic supports. However, I learned that while they both provide manual supports like S3D, CarftWare allows you to arbitrarily angle you manual supports (rather than them always being vertic...

Re: 3D Design Software

If you want to do anything hard surface/ CAD related (non-organic), and you plan on making this a legit hobby, I'd recommend Fusion 360. Free for causal users, amazingly powerful. I've never used OnShape, but I've heard good stuff, from a group of peeps that split off from Solidworks. For anything o...

Re: Tree like support etc

In a pinch, Meshmixer will do this, fyi: You can create the supports in meshmixer, then export them as a stl to bring into S3D.
Having that as an internal option in S3D would be darn nice though.

Re: Overhangs not being supported

S3D is great for adding supports manually . This feature request/bugfix is about it's 'automatic' support system, and how it's completely failing to catch unsupported features like previously described and illustrated. If it encounters a shape like a floating " V ", as long as those angles are withi...

Re: Feature Request: Indipedent filament profiles

Yes you can do that. It's just... clunky IMO. I have two machines at home, and probably 20 different profiles (which are added as process presets, to get all the nomenclature correct here) for printing different types of filaments\quality settings\speeds\etc ,with different nozzle diameters (I have ...

Feature Request: Indipedent filament profiles

Did a search, hadn't seen this listed (at least any time recently): (slightly edited wording below) Would really like the ability for 'filament profiles' to be saved independent from the 'machine profile': Every filament has things that make it unique from others: Filament diameter, extrusion temp, ...

Re: Slicer behavior for thin walled sections

I've +1 this repeatedly before, and I'll do it again. Thin walls should be printed with a single extrusion, if the (non-existent) option allows it. I've been printing with volcano nozzles, from .6->1.2mm. It's extremely frustrating that S3D will leave huge gaping holes in walls of the resultant gcod...

That's a cool feature I didn't know about, thanks. But it still doesn't save me from making 50 different processes to begin with, would just make editing them all concurrently technically easier.

Re: Feature Request: Solid Diaphragm at set layers

There's an option on the Infill tab that allows you to "include solid diaphragm every XXX layers" I don't want one every 100 layers (for example), I want one on layer 45, 205, 1739, etc, so that option doesn't fill the need. It only puts solid layers between the processes if you tell it to Sure, li...
