Re: Layer tearing in specific areas near perimeter start

Looking more closely at the preview I think I see the culprit. The slicing appears to be creating isolated "top layers" along sloped areas of my outline as it curves towards the top of my model. Is there some setting I can adjust to prevent this from happening?

Layer tearing in specific areas near perimeter start

I have a model that often suffers from some really nasty looking horizontal "tears" where it looks like some layers are not bonding correctly at the beginning of the outline perimeter. These occur in the same approximate area every time but I don't see any problems in my STL or gcode preview that wo...

Avoid Crossing Outlines causes extrusion during travel moves

I've noticed that when I use the "Avoid Crossing Outlines for Travel Moves" option in 3.01 I get what appears to be full extrusion continuing during the first travel move from completion of my brim to the base layer. If I turn this option off the same move results in no material being deposited. I'v...

Re: Noisy Surface Finish To Hide Ghosting

This is a great idea for a feature. I often do this manually by adding rake marks or surface noise to my zbrush sculptures but that is bound to the resolution of the mesh. If it was a feature in S3D then it would only be limited by the x/y resolution of the printer and something that could be added ...

Supports Placement and Removal Erratic With Cross Section On

I'm trying to use the cross-section view with slicing in Z to better see where I may need to manually add or remove supports in areas that are blocked by the model or other supports. When you try to drag the mouse over an area to place a support pillar it doesn't seem to work correctly when cross-se...

+1

Yes, this one is quite annoying since 99% of the time I want to load files that were recently saved but not necessarily re-opened.

Re: Used to get near perfect prints - Was it only a dream???

What happens if you lower the speed settings by 50%? I can try that but I'm already at 18mm/sec for outlines, supports and solid layers (30mm/sec for infill). A little update as well. After changing the liner in my other Dremel's extruder I was able to get a little closer to my original quality but...

Re: Used to get near perfect prints - Was it only a dream???

Well, first of all, I would try to change software settings since that it just adding additional variables. If you truly want to figure out what's going wrong, then print the exact same g3drem file you printed 5 months ago. Don't change any settings. You have already seen how that file should print...

Used to get near perfect prints - Was it only a dream???

I've had my two Dremel Idea Builders for about 5 months now. When new they both were producing some amazing prints but slowly got worse over time. After countless hours calibrating, testing and even swapping out the PTFE liners (which finally solved my extrusion issues) I am still not able to get an...

Re: How To Reduce Warping of PLA?

Looks like my plastic cooling fan died. That might explain this and many other problems that started a day ago :)
