Re: Fails to extrude/prime filament during skirt & print sta

Immediately before starting a print, I always go to the Machine Control screen, select Jog Controls, and manually extrude 20 mm of filament, pull that off, and immediately go back to the main screen and start the print going. I also have S3D print a skirt around the part, since even after extruding ...

Re: Robo R1 stops after printing for a few seconds...why?

In Print Preview, is the part shown sitting right on the bed, with no part of it submerged beneath the bed's surface?

Also you might check your file for errors in Repair > Identify Non-manifold Edges.

Re: How to set temperature sampling

If everything is working OK but you don't like the constant stream of temperature info on your screen, you can go to the Machine Control screen and uncheck "Verbose" up near the top-right.

Re: Skipping Lines

Thanks for letting everybody know what it was!

That explains the periodic nature of the gaps, too. Glad you found it.

Re: ripple on ABS first layer

If it's a resonance problem, you should see a big difference if you deposit the first layer at half the speed you're using now.

Re: Small loop at end of job dissfigured

Check out the Cooling tab, "Speed Overrides".

You may be putting too much heat into that small area too rapidly. You can slow down the printing by setting the minimum time to print any layer, and/or you can speed up the fan for that small area.

Re: Squawking extruder problem... seems to be software.

It's apparently a software bug in S3D 3.0.2 (better minds than mine found it). If you search the forums you'll find some posts about it. I had the same thing hit me two days ago, but I could see the extrude/retract gear running on my TAZ5 printer, and could see it sometimes was doing really fast, ve...

Re: Lulzbot Taz 5, I can not print without a raft

I'm using S3D on a TAZ 5, with no problems without using a raft. A couple of things to check in your S3D settings: In your .fff process file: A) Gcode tab: Global G-code offsets: is the Z-axis number set to 0? Normally it should be. B) Advanced tab: Layer Modifications: is "Start printing at height"...

Re: My model threads are not there?

I'd say to check the .stl file in a few of the many free .stl-file viewers and checkers out there, to figure out if the problem is in S3D or the file itself.

My bet would be the problem is in the .stl file itself, but checking it will tell you for sure.

Re: Heated bed temperature decreases during print

You might want to rig a quick-and-dirty draft shield out of cardboard, and put it around three sides of the printer, to see if it helps. My printer sits in a room that often has a strong breeze coming in from the window that blows towards the printer, so for ABS I always put up a simple cardboard sh...
